줄거리 English

In August 1922, journalist Jerry Thompson sets out to uncover the life of Azerbaijani philanthropist and oil magnate Zeynalabdin Taghiyev. Flashing back to May 1901, Haji Taghiyev, supported by his wife Sona, fights to establish the first school for Muslim girls in Baku. Fierce opposition emerges from conservative cleric Akhund Abu Ziyad, igniting public unrest and attacks on teachers. Backed by leading reformers and progressive clergy, Taghiyev refuses to surrender. After securing religious approval from major Islamic centers abroad confirming girls' right to education, he achieves a historic victory as the school finally opens in October 1901.
