Mathis, also known as Tortuga, is a YouTuber specializing in travel and exploration. In this captivating film, he invites you to delve into the heart of Mongolia's vast steppes. Over the course of a month, he traveled more than 400 km on horseback, following in the footsteps of Mongolian nomads. Joined by Sara, a local animist interpreter, and two experienced herders, he immersed himself in the daily life of nomadic communities - from tending to their herds to participating in ancestral rituals. This unique adventure goes beyond breathtaking landscapes. Mathis took part in age-old traditions, including the Naadam festival, celebrated for its three "manly sports," and embraced the challenge of living in the wilderness, far removed from modern comforts. Through rare but meaningful encounters with nomads, the film explores essential values: a connection to nature, respect for spirits, and the bonds between people. This journey is also a quest for meaning, where Mathis questions modern views of freedom and lifestyle by comparing them to those of a people who have preserved a unique harmony with their environment. Blending emotions, physical challenges, and cultural immersion, this film is an invitation to dream, travel, and reflect on our place in the world.
