Bam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story (2024)

줄거리 English

The hit reggae song 'Bam Bam' is considered an anthem of the genre and one of the most sampled reggae vocals of all time. The woman behind the voice, Jamaican dancehall legend Sister Nancy, was deceived for decades and denied the royalties that were rightfully hers. Despite the challenges in her path, she persevered and is an in-demand artist today, touring the world and spreading joy through her music to sold-out crowds. In BAM BAM: THE SISTER NANCY STORY, award-winning filmmaker Alison Duke (Black Community Mixtapes) mixes dynamic tour performances, insightful interviews with industry figures like Janelle Monae, Young Guru, and Pete Rock, and archival footage of the early dancehall scene to create a comprehensive portrait of Sister Nancy's enduring prominence in reggae and hip hop. Her music transcends boundaries, resonating with diverse audiences around the globe, from reggae and hip-hop enthusiasts to gamers and music lovers. Entertaining and empowering, Sister Nancy's story proves that great music overcomes obstacles and that staying true to oneself is the key to success -- both in the music industry and in life.
